YOU'RE INVITED -
REGIONAL ISSUES WORKSHOPS

Going Places:

This project is a regional initiative to bring people together to create a roadmap for the future of and development in the Miami Valley Region. Currently the major focus is to collect information from people who live and work in the Region about what they envision for its future. The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) would like to make sure that all area residents have the opportunity to learn about and participate in this project. To that end eight workshops have been scheduled in Montgomery County for community input. All workshops will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The League is encouraging our members to consider attending one of the workshops to provide input and learn more about this important community process.

Questions can be directed to MVRPC at 937-531-6537.

Dayton League working with UD students in classroom project on regionalism

The Dayton League is honored to have been invited to work with a group of University of Dayton students who are studying and developing position papers on regionalism. Instructors for the class, "The City and Social Justice," are Brother Ray Fitz, SM and Don Vermilion.

The League was approached because of our history of conducting studies on public policy issues. Historically, League studies are conducted to formulate a consensus position that can then be used in public education and advocacy. This collaborative project with UD will provide students with an insight into the League process of studying a topic, but will also provide an opportunity to build their analytical skills in project development and presentation.

Over the course of the semester, students will be developing and then presenting strategies on several regionalism topics including: regional land use planning, economic development through regional revenue sharing, and efficiency of service provision through cross jurisdictional collaboration. The League will be able to use the "end product" of the student analysis to add to and update our own files on regionalism and utilize in future public meetings on the topic.
